PhilippinesExplore the Philippine Islands - 21 Days

Manila - Legaspi/Donsol - Puerto Princesa - El Nido - Boracay - Cebu - Bohol - Manila

Following your arrival in Manila, we head to the south of Luzon, to the Bicol region. Legaspi is a small bustling city, lying in the shadow of the majestic Mount Mayon volcano. Exploring the area, you will see several sites which show the impact this active volcano has had on communities over the centuries. Enjoy interaction with magnificent, but gentle Whale Sharks, & Manta Rays off Donsol.

We next take you to the westerly island of Palawan - known as the Philippines "last frontier". From its capital, Puerto Princesa, you can enjoy boat trips, diving and snorkeling. Take a tour of the St Paul's Underground River, for which this part of Palawan is particularly famous.

We move on, heading north to El Nido - one of the top tourist destinations, (still remarkably unspoilt), in not just Palawan, but the Philippines itself. Here you'll find a stunning landscape of limestone cliffs, blue lagoons, and amazing wildlife, such as monitor lizards.

Our journey continues, taking you to the Central Visayas area of the Philippines. Here, Boracay's famous White Beach has been described as the “finest beach in the world". Cebu has a number of beach resorts, with fabulous hotels, bars and restaurants, plus world class diving spots.

Bohol has beautiful tropical beaches, the amazing Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, and of course, the Philippines Tarsier - the world's smallest primate.

Returning to Manila, there's still time to explore the city's numerous shopping malls, or other attractions. Take a tour of the old part of the capital - Intramuros and Fort Santiago, or have a day out enjoying any one of numerous other local activities or excursions.

As with all our vacations, this tour is entirely flexible and may be shortened, extended or revised to suit individual requirements.

Day 1 - Arrive Manila. Transfer to Hotel

Our vacations start and finish in Manila - the Philippines’ vibrant, bustling, capital. Many of the cities that make up Metro-Manila consist of a sophisticated collection of tall, modern buildings, and shopping malls. Manila has plenty of attractions, modern shopping centres, lively nightlife, restaurants and cafés. Its people are polite, and very welcoming to visitors.

Day 2 - Check out Hotel. Transfer to Airport. Flight to Legaspi.

Arrive Legaspi, transfer to Donsol.

Legaspi City is one of the Bicol Region's top tourist destinations, famous for the Philippines' most active, and almost perfectly formed, Mayon volcano.

Day 3 - Whale Shark Interaction/Evening Firefly Watching River Tour

The largest annual congregation of Whale Sharks is in Donsol from December to May. These gentle giants are migratory animals, found in warm tropical waters as they follow their food supply.

They migrate to Donsol in vast numbers to take advantage of the dense food concentration of plankton and krill.

The Fireflies on the Donsol river should not be missed, and it is easy to get mesmerized by their dancing!

Day 4 - Return to Legaspi

Enjoy a tour of Albay, first taking the road up Mt Mayon to enjoy spectacular views. See surrounding areas that have been affected by the volcano over the years, such as the Cagsawa Ruins, the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Porteria (Our Lady of the Gate), Deraga, and the Padang barangay of Legaspi City, which was buried in a landslide of ash and giant boulders as recently as 2006.

Also explore the Hoyop-Hoyopan cave, with its impressive stalagmites and stalactites, and Japanese tunnels. Ligñon Hill Nature Park offers commanding views over Legaspi and the city airport, as well as on Mt Mayon. The brave can also enjoy a zip-line ride here!

Day 5 - Transfer to Airport. Flight back to Manila. Connecting flight to Puerto Princesa. Transfer to Resort.

Puerto Princesa is the capital of Palawan, and is built alongside the beautiful Honda Bay.

The bay offers boat trips, and there are good snorkelling opportunities for lovers of marine life.

Day 6 - Honda Bay Island Hopping inclusive of lunch

Other local attractions include the Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Centre, which looks after the two species of Philippines' crocodiles.

Day 7 - Underground River Tour inclusive of lunch private.

St Paul's Underground River: Awarded World Heritage Site status in 1999, this national park runs for 5 miles through a limestone cave before opening out into a lagoon. A sandbar separates the lagoon from the sea.

The site is approximately 50 miles north of Puerto Princesa, and one first takes the road to Sabang, which has one of Palawan's most beautiful beaches. The national park can be reached by walking along the beach and then through rainforest (around 2.5 miles), or by taking a 15 minute boat ride.

This area is extremely active with wildlife, including Philippine macaques, monitor lizards and the highly endangerd, flightless, tabon bird.

Day 8 - Transfer to EL Nido. Arrive El Nido, check into your Resort

From the towering marble cliffs and enchanting lagoons to its white sandy beaches and lush jungle, El Nido is one of the top tourist destinations in Palawan, which is often referred to as the Philippines' Last Frontier.

Take a boat to explore the many nearby islands which include Miniloc, Vigan, & Snake Island.

Day 9 - Island Hopping Tour inclusive of lunch

Day 10 - Free Time at Leisure

Today, enjoy the environs, or maybe take a trek into the jungle, with an experienced guide, to see both hot springs and cool pools, (where you can take a refreshing dip), before enjoying a barbecue lunch, prepared by your guide.

Day 11 Check out Resort. Return to Puerto Princesa.

Transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 12 - Flight to Manila, and onward connecting flight to Panay island

Here we transfer to the port at Caticlan for the short boat ride across to Boracay. Arriving on Boracay, we transfer you to your Resort.

Tripadvisor recently voted Boracay as the No.1 beach & sun destination in the whole of Asia. The famous White Beach has powdery sand and stretches for two and a half miles. There’s an endless list of sports and activities on offer, island-hopping boat-trips, plus hundreds of places to eat, drink and be merry.

Day 13 - Free Time at leisure

On Boracay, there is so much to see and do, or you can simply relax.

Day 14 - Free Time at leisure

Day 15 - Check out Resort. Transfer to Airport. Flight to Cebu.

Transfer to Hotel for an overnight stay.

Cebu is an island in central Philippines which has Cebu City as its capital. Mactan Island has a number of beach side resorts, with fabulous hotels, bars and restaurants. An optional boat trip over to Olango Island, allows you to see the wetlands nature reserve, for which Olango is famous.

Day 16 - Transfer to Cebu Port. Fast Ferry to Tagbilaran, Bohol. Arrive

Transfering to Cebu Port, today you'll take a fast ferry to Tagbilaran, the capital of Bohol. Arriving at Tagbilaran, we transfer to Panglao Island, which is connected to Bohol by a short bridge, and which boast many sandy beaches.

A wonderful island, Bohol has not only beautiful tropical beaches, but also coral reefs, and the famously distinctive Chocolate Hills.
Take a cruise on the Loboc River, enjoy scuba-diving, or go dolphin and whale-watching. See the Philippines Tarsier - the world’s smallest primate.

Day 17 - Countryside Tour of Bohol inclusive of lunch

We spend today exploring much of what Bohol has to offer, including its six main attractions:

The Blood Compact, a marker which commemorates the spot where Datu Sikatuna, a native chieftain, forged a blood compact with Don Miguel Lopez de Legazpi representing the king of Spain, for the purpose of fostering friendly relations between the two countries. This is considered to be the first treaty of friendship between brown and white races

The centuries-old Baclayon church and museum

The Loboc-Bilar man-made forest

The remarkable Chocolate Hills, the provinceʼs signature attraction.

A Loboc River cruise. This is a fascinating boat ride along palm-fringed banks, where locals will entertain you with traditional song and dance.

See Philippine tarsiers, considered the smallest living primate, whose existence dates back more that 45 million years.

Day 18 - Whale and Dolphin Spotting and Balicasag Island Tour inclusive of lunch.

An early start to go Whale and Dolphin Spotting with an expert crew! Pamilacan Island lies between the deep sea of Bohol and Mindanao, and is noted for its huge whales and manta rays. Whale and dolphin-watching has become a popular ecotourism activity in the area where sightings have been almost certain. Dolphin species abundant in the area include bottlenose, spinner, and spotted, while 13 species of cetaceans are found including the melon-headed and baby sperm whales. This tour was designed mainly to help the fishermen of Pamilacan Island whose main source of income used to be in catching these creatures.

We next enjoy a Balicasag Island Tour, including lunch. The tour includes a visit to an uninhabited yet beautiful white sandy islet where a group can bathe exclusively by themselves.

For the more curious who love to explore the underwater marine life, one may opt to go snorkeling or diving.

Day 19 - Check out Resort. Flight back to Manila, overnight stay

Day 20 - Free Time at Leisure

Explore any one of Manila's numerous shopping malls, or book one of many excursions, depending on your interest, which are available. These include a city tour of old Intramuros and Fort Santiago, a crossing to Corregidor island, a Pagsanjan Laguna day tour, or a visit to Tagaytay, where you'll find Lake Taal, and the Taal Volcano (one of the world's smallest).

Day 21 - Check out Hotel. Transfer to Airport for your flight home
